Workshops
Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Workshops

Programs are offered as half day, full day or multi-day workshops dependent on the needs and number of participants. Learning includes negotiation and mediation skills, behavioral styles and improving communication. This leads to the reduction of conflict and stress in the workplace.
The purpose of the negotiation process is to generate a discussion of issues and options so that the parties can solve their dispute through informed, joint voluntary decisions. The principles of the negotiation process are also applied to mediation.
Seven Elements of Principled Negotiation
- Alternatives
What will you do if you do not reach an agreement
- Interests
Defines the problem – wants, needs, desires, goals, concerns - Options
Brainstorm options with deferred reactions and judgments
- Legitimacy
Relevancy of options and objective criteria to both sides
- Communication
Listen interactively and remain open to ideas
- Relationship
Separate people from the problem
- Commitment
Crafting of the agreed options
The Conflict Resolution Group’s workshops provide the necessary knowledge and skills for staff to negotiate effectively and reduce conflict. Participants gain insight into their own style of communication, and how it positively and negatively affects their working relationships.
